Our History
Founded in 1985, Grupo Los Nacientes began with a vision of creating value through sustainable forestry. What started with Gmelina arborea plantations in Costa Rica has grown into a diversified business group committed to innovation, environmental stewardship, and sustainable development.
Today, the Group manages nearly 2,000 hectares of sustainably cultivated forests, primarily Gmelina arborea, supporting a fully integrated wood business that ranges from forest plantations and sawmilling to the manufacturing of engineered wood products and nationwide retail distribution through Maderas Cultivadas de Costa Rica.
Driven by the same commitment to sustainability, the Group expanded into agriculture by establishing PCC Fresh, which now cultivates approximately 1,600 hectares of pineapple. Through years of research and development, PCC Fresh has become a pioneer in the commercial production of Pesticide-Free Pineapples, offering fruit grown with biological solutions while maintaining the productivity and quality demanded by international markets.
Building on this expertise, the Group also created LASSO, its juice division, specializing in Pesticide-Free and Organic Pineapple Juice and Puree, supplying high-quality ingredients to customers seeking healthier and more sustainable food solutions.
Innovation continued with the establishment of BIOPRO, a biotechnology company dedicated to developing biological alternatives that replace conventional chemical products for crop nutrition, pest control, and disease management.
Through proprietary research, BIOPRO produces beneficial microorganisms, botanical extracts, biofertilizers, biostimulants, and biological crop protection solutions that help farmers improve productivity while reducing their environmental footprint.
Across all its businesses, Grupo Los Nacientes is united by a shared commitment to transforming natural resources into innovative and sustainable solutions. Through vertical integration, continuous research, technological innovation, and responsible production, the Group creates long-term value for its customers, employees, communities, and the environment.
Our commitment to sustainability extends beyond our products. We have invested in more than 800 solar panels to generate clean energy, implemented rainwater harvesting systems at our packing facilities to optimize water use, and incorporated electric trucks into our operations to reduce greenhouse gas emissions. These initiatives reflect our ongoing commitment to minimizing our environmental footprint while improving operational efficiency.
Today, with more than 40 years of experience, Grupo Los Nacientes continues to expand its presence in forestry, sustainable agriculture, biotechnology, and international markets. Guided by our purpose—Making the World Sustainable—we remain committed to developing innovative solutions that improve people’s lives while protecting the natural resources that future generations depend on.
